Join Safe Place for a Self-Paced Book Club

Announced on: Monday, Mar. 24, 2025

Hey Chico State !

Safe Place is hosting a self-paced book club this month, and we're reading Unbound: My Story of Liberation and the Birth of the Me Too Movement by Tarana Burke. This powerful book touches on themes of survivor empowerment, healing, intersectional social justice, and provides insight into the birth of the Me Too movement.

  • Book Club Schedule:
  • April 3rd: Join us for a check-in and discussion while we make buttons at the Library's Makerspace.
  • April 23rd: Our final wrap-up where we'll create Zines to reflect on what we've learned from the book or share how you'd like to tell your story. This will also be hosted at the Library's Makerspace.

You can always schedule an appointment with a survivor advocate to process the book or discuss your thoughts in a private setting.

  • How to Get the Book:
  • Library: You can loan the book for a 3-week period, or check it out from the library's reserve section for 2-3 hour slots.
  • Safe Place: We also have pre-used copies available at Safe Place (SSC 430) for you to borrow.
  • Libby: is a free app that allows people to borrow eBooks, audiobooks, and digital magazines from their local library. All you need is a library card!

We hope you join us in reading and discussing this important work. See you there, Wildcats!

Content Warning: The book includes firsthand and secondhand accounts of sexual violence.
