Introduction to Native Bees as Pollinators Workshop

Tuesday, 24 June 2025, 9 AM – 4 PM

at the Ahart Herbarium (Holt Hall 129) at CSU Chico

Join us for a hands-on workshop to explore the identification, diversity, natural history, habitat and plant associations of our local native bee fauna. This workshop is open to all levels of "bee" experience!

Interactive methods for studying bees and

Identifying to family and genera with emphasis on common native bees

Introduction to dichotomous keying with pinned specimens

Instructors:

Michelle Graydon: Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, California Bumble Bee Atlas contributor, CSU Chico Biological Sciences

John Whittlesey: Retired nurseryman, landscape designs to encourage all pollinators, especially bumble bees

Rob Schlising: Emeritus Professor, CSU Chico, Biological Sciences, advocate for native plants and pollinators
