Associated Students Government Affairs is now accepting applications for the Commissioner of Student Engagement and Advocacy and Senator for the College of Natural Sciences positions.
The Commissioner of Student Engagement and Advocacy serves as a voting member of the Government Affairs Committee (GAC) and the chair of the Campus Engagement Council (CEC). This position coordinates Government Affairs representation at campus-wide involvement opportunities and organizes intentional outreach at the start of each academic semester to welcome and inform incoming first-year and transfer students about Government Affairs. The Commissioner also assists in planning and participating in AS Government Town Halls, coordinates and responds to initiatives to support the advocacy of students at large, coordinates the annual Time Capsule event, and serves as a peer mentor to students interested in Government Affairs, student advocacy, and involvement. The Senator for the College of Natural Sciences acts as the link between the Associated Students and their respective College. This position sits on the Student Academic Senate (SAS). They are responsible for acting as a representative of any and all students served by their College, meeting with the Dean of the College or designee on a regular basis. Additionally, this position serves on campus-wide committees and acts as a liaison between students and College faculty to increase communication, interaction, and cooperation between Academic Affairs and the Associated Students.
