Dr. William Carroll (Biological Sciences, '73) has spent over forty years studying acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), one of the most common childhood cancers, and running clinical trials that offer hope to families.
Over the years, he has directed major cancer centers, led national research networks, and helped shape the standard of care.
And it all began right here.
Carroll credits Chico State for helping him realize he could become a doctor and make a real impact.
"The classes were rigorous. The professors were accessible. I found community and purpose. It changed everything."
Now he's mentoring the next generation, running a nationally funded research lab, and giving children with cancer a second chance at life.
