The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) will host a webinar, "Fostering STEM Sense of Belonging Through Summer Research at Transfer Universities," on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 12-1 pm PT.
The webinar will focus on how Riverside City College (RCC) addresses barriers to access and support the retention of students in STEM through a federally funded summer research program designed to support student success. Launched in 2023 with California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), the program places RCC students in research labs, pairing them with faculty mentors and offering paid opportunities.
Attendees will learn how RCC established collaborations to launch the summer research experience, increased student participation and expanded to multiple partner universities, and provided guidance and resources for students to present their research at conferences and provided them with professional development.
The presentation will be made by Luis H. Molina, Project Manager for STEM Grants and Academic Affairs, at RCC.
