Introducing the Mentors for Success Program! Hiring Peer Coaches and Accepting Mentee Applications!

This Fall 2025, the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences Advising Department, in partnership with B5: Bridges to Baccalaureate, is launching the Mentors for Success program! This program is specifically designed to help transfer students transition, thrive, and succeed during their time with the College of BSS!

If you are interested in receiving support as a Mentee, be sure to fill out the Application by Friday, August 15th! As a mentee, you can expect:

  • 1:1 mentoring on study skills, time management & goal setting
  • Help understanding personal strength and goal setting as it pertains to campus resources
  • Ongoing support & check-ins throughout the semester
  • Events, workshops & student success tools

If you are passionate about helping others succeed and want to build your leadership skills while supporting transfers students at Chico State, consider applying as a Peer Coach! This is a paid position ($19/hour) where you'll play a crucial role in helping students feel supported, engaged, and connected to the campus community. As a Peer Coach, you will collaborate with the BSS Advising Team to:

  • Support transfer students, working directly with 2–3 new transfer students to help them navigate their first semester and make the most of their Chico State experience.
  • Assist with first-year students on a drop-in basis, offering advice and support or directing them to appropriate campus/college resources as needed.
  • Be involved in various projects and events that promote a sense of belonging within the College of BSS, beyond one-on-one mentoring.

You don't have to be a BSS major to apply as a Peer Coach! If you're passionate about creating a welcoming environment and supporting the success of others, we encourage you to apply.
