Announced on: Monday, Sept. 01, 2025
Join us, 20 September 2025, 10 AM – 4 PM in Holt Hall 309 to create a seasonal and local color palette from Northern California plant-based dyes. We'll explore alchemy and biodiversity with a spectrum of hues made from indigenous California plants, and discuss the extensive range of natural palettes in plants. We'll learn to "cook with color" and make a unique and biodiverse palette of botanically-dyed samples, finished take-home textiles exploring a range of surface design techniques in the process . . . and connect to a vibrant array of California fall colors. Taught by internationally-renowned artist, designer, educator, and author of three books on dyeing with plants.
