Chico State is launching a parking permit refresh. New hangtag permits are being issued to replace all current academic and calendar year F/S and reserved (R, R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5) permits.
If you currently hold an F/S or R permit, please visit Student Financial Services Office (SSC, Room 230) to complete the required paperwork and receive your new permit. The deadline to replace your permit is Friday, September 19, 2025. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m to 5 p.m.
You do not need to return your old permit; however, once you receive your replacement—or after September 19, whichever comes first—your old permit will become invalid. Please destroy and discard it once the new one is in use. Do not attempt to use the old and new permits in separate vehicles, as this may result in a citation.
At the time of replacement, you must complete a new payroll deduction authorization form. Stateside employees can access the form on the Student Financial Services website. You're encouraged to fill it out and print it ahead of time to bring with you. When filling out the form, please provide your full name, employee ID number, Social Security number (used solely for payroll purposes), phone number, and email address. Vehicle information is no longer needed or stored. These are hangtag permits—just display your permit in the vehicle you park on campus, making sure to park in the appropriate stall type.
Associated Students and Chico State Enterprises employees who have a current permit, completed payroll deduction forms for you will be available in Student Financial Services Office —you do not need to contact your respective HR office.
A couple of noteworthy changes as part of the updated process beginning in the 2025–26 fiscal year, payroll deductions will vary depending on the type of permit you hold. Calendar year permits will now be deducted over 12 months. Academic year permits will continue to be deducted over 9 months, from September through May. Monthly deduction amounts for calendar year permit holders will change accordingly. A full deduction schedule, including updated deduction amount, is available on Student Financial Services website under the Parking Permit page.
If at any time you wish to cancel your permit and stop future deductions, please return your hangtag to Student Financial Services Office by the last business day of the month.
For employees enrolling in payroll deduction for the first time, the first month's payment is required when you pick up your permit. This payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card at the time you submit your paperwork.
Please note, this replacement process does not affect Emeritus parking permits.
If you have any questions about the process, please contact Suzy Buck in Student Financial Services via email or at extension 4195.
