Industry Talks: Women in Game Development

Computer Animation and Game Development is welcoming three industry professionals to campus on Friday, October 17th in BSS 101 at 1:30 PM for our on-going Industry Talks series. This event will feature open discussion about getting into industry, talks about project and team management within the game development sphere, personal experiences, and more! The talk will be followed by an open Q&A. All students, staff, and faculty are welcome.

Alisha Thayer ('05) | Design Director at Crystal Dynamics, former: Rockstar Games

Alisha Thayer (she/her) oversees a multidisciplinary gameplay and gameplay systems team. She has been a key contributor to technical design career development, mentorship, assessment, and departmental standards at Crystal over the past decade. Over her career she has worked on Tomb Raider, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, and Marvel's Avengers as a scripter and technical game designer. Alisha now spearheads a large multi-discipline team on the next installment of the Tomb Raider franchise.

Rachel Levine ('11) | Senior Narrative Producer at Respawn Entertainment, former: Bungie, Naughty Dog, Jam City

Rachel Levine (she/her) supports the story, camera design, narrative design teams as well as many cross-functional strike teams, often looking for production efficiencies, mitigating risk, and highlighting solutions for challenging problems. Rachel has worked in licensing production, mobile production, and AAA production. She has worked on games featuring well-known IP such as Office Space and Family Guy, and has overseen campaign and seasonal development on Destiny 2.

Dez Makowski ('17) | Senior Producer at Bad Robot Games, former: WB Games, Zynga

Dez Makowski (she/her/Ms.) works closely with the art, level design, and marketing teams. She specializes in art production pipelines with an emphasis in high-volume content delivery for live ops titles and preserving IP integrity and authenticity through strong licensor relationships. Dez has contributed to projects across many beloved franchises, including Harry Potter and The Wizarding World, Game of Thrones, DC Comics, The Matrix, Mad Max, It, Cartoon Network, and Adult Swim, and more!
