From Grain to Glass: The Journey of Your Favorite Spirits!

Announced on: Friday, Oct. 10, 2025

The journey of your favorite spirits is a fascinating amalgamation of diverse ingredients and unique processes that concentrate alcohol and create unique flavors and aromas. These processes result in a wide range of beverages with varied flavor profiles—from hoppy or malty beers to light, medium or full-bodied wines. The byproducts of fermentation and distillation, along with alcohol content, add further layers of complexity to their taste and potential effects.

University of Notre Dame (ND) Professor, Masaru Ken Kuno, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Ph.D., is coming to Chico State to discuss the science of alcoholic beverages in a talk titled "From Grain to Glass: The Journey of Your Favorite Spirits!" on Monday, October 13 at 3:00 p.m. on the 4th floor of the Science Building, 400 W 1st St., Chico, CA 95929.

This talk is free and open to the public.
