Campus Sustainability Day is Oct. 23, from 11 am - 2 pm at Colusa Commons and Hall, and the Book in Common will have a table to showcase this year's book, California Against the Sea: Visions for our Vanishing Coastline, by Los Angeles Times reporter Rosanna Xia. The book examines the history of California's coastline, from the indigenous people who inhabited these coastal areas, to the waves of EuroAmerican settlement on the coast. With the pressures of climate change and sea level rise, how will California adapt to preserve its coastline and work with the forces of nature, rather than against them? Stop by our table to learn about the book and its important message of supporting community wellbeing while protecting natural resources.
