In partnership with the California Education Learning Lab and as part of CSU's work with the Equitable AI Alliance, CSU faculty, staff, leaders and all others interested in the future of AI in higher education in California are invited to participate in a statewide event taking place February 5–6, 2026 at UC San Diego Park & Market in downtown San Diego. The convening brings together colleagues from UC, CSU, and California Community Colleges to advance responsible, effective uses of AI for teaching, learning, and student success. Why this convening matters for Chico State
- Systemwide alignment. Engage with UC, CSU, and California Community Colleges to shape shared approaches for responsible AI across teaching, learning, and operations.
- Scalable implementation. Learn concrete strategies for moving from pilots to sustainable, campus-wide practices that improve student outcomes and operational effectiveness.
- Technology equity and inclusion. Explore frameworks that mitigate bias, support diverse learners, and reflect Chico State's commitment to inclusive excellence.
- Governance and risk management. Bring back models for policy, procurement, data privacy, and compliance that balance innovation with institutional stewardship.
- Evidence and outcomes. Review emerging research priorities, assessment methods, and metrics to inform data-driven decision-making.
- Partnerships and resources. Build cross-system relationships and identify collaborations and potential funding pathways that accelerate implementation.
- Campus readiness. Translate insights into actionable next steps for curricula, professional development, student services, and administrative workflows.

Call for Proposals
Proposals are welcome for presentations, panels, workshops, and posters, with an emphasis on cross-institutional projects and collaboration. Priority themes include:
- Cross-institutional collaboration and shared infrastructure
- Scaling innovation from pilots to sustainable practice
- Equity and student success
- Responsible and ethical AI
