The deadline for nominations for the Gayle E. Hutchinson Presidential Award for Excellence is January 30.
Established to honor the legacy of Dr. Gayle E. Hutchinson, Chico State's 12th president and the first woman to lead the University, this biennial award celebrates individuals whose scholarship, research, and creative activity exemplify innovation, intellectual leadership, and national or international distinction elevating the reputation of the university.
This award reflects Dr. Hutchinson's enduring commitment to forward-thinking leadership, academic excellence, and the power of innovation to advance both the university and society. It recognizes those whose contributions extend beyond our campus who inspire others through groundbreaking inquiry, creative mastery, and transformative impact in their fields.
Recipients of the Gayle E. Hutchinson Presidential Award for Excellence represent the very highest standards of achievement at Chico State. Their work demonstrates not only personal distinction but also a deep alignment with the University's mission to inspire students, enrich communities, and shape the future through knowledge and discovery.
Awardees receive significant recognition and support from the University Foundation to further their scholarly or creative endeavors. More importantly, they join a distinguished legacy that honors excellence, integrity, and innovation at the highest level.
Nominations are now open for the 2026 award cycle. Exceptional candidates whose work reflects this spirit of excellence are invited to submit a nomination by January 30. You may nominate an outstanding colleague or yourself.
