Office of Civic Engagement Outstanding Staff Engagement Awards

Call for Nominations

The Office of Civic Engagement Outstanding Staff Engagement Award acknowledges and celebrates civically- and community-engaged staff-led activities. In particular, the awards recognize engagement that centers community partnerships, collaborations, and action-oriented work that produces public-serving results.

The office is accepting nominations for:

• Outstanding Staff Engagement Award: Recognizes one staff member who has engaged in significant community partnerships through their work on campus, encouraged campus employees or students to participate in high levels of engagement with the community, and/or made a significant impact on public issues.

Two awardees will each receive $500 in professional development funds. Awardees are only eligible to receive this award once.

Nomination Process and Requirements:

Nominations must be submitted to Ariane Bélanger-Vincent, Director of Civic Engagement, via email (abelanger-vincent@csuchico.edu) no later than Friday, March 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. PDT. Any staff member (Chico State, Associated Students, University Foundation, or Chico State Enterprises) is eligible for the award based on the criteria described here. Anyone (including students, faculty, staff colleagues, and administrators) is welcome to nominate a staff member. The award selection committee will be comprised of the Director of Civic Engagement, the Faculty Fellow for Voter Empowerment, the Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education and Academic Success, one staff representative, and one student representative.

Nominations must include a one page, single spaced letter from the nominator addressing the following:

· Explains how the nominee meets the description of the award, providing and describing specific examples of their civically- and/or community-engaged work;

· Describes the ways the nominee has impacted the campus community, surrounding communities, and/or other communities through their work.
