Feedback requested on whether to propose changes to the faculty evaluation process (due March 13)

Announced on: Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026

To anyone connected to the evaluation of faculty please complete a survey by March 13 at 5:00pm: https://forms.gle/xfvvkhSkSTxYYMgk8

Throughout the year, a group of faculty have been meeting to discuss the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) on the faculty evaluation process, and whether any changes to the Faculty Personnel Policies and Procedures (FPPP) should be proposed to address this impact. One idea is to consider changes that would reduce the amount and length of narratives—for both faculty and evaluators alike—to make the process more meaningful, with less incentive to use GAI, and with the primary goal of reducing workload and anxiety for everyone involved. The group is considering whether changes might help achieve these goals, but we need input from people who are participating on both sides of the faculty evaluation process. This survey is intended to gather broad faculty perspectives on how the current process is working, where it creates unnecessary burden, and what revisions might improve clarity, fairness, and efficiency in the faculty evaluation process.
