A lot of what you learn in college happens between classes. It's in the habits you build by showing up on time, figuring out how to work with people on group projects, and learning to share space and responsibility with others. Those small disciplines gather momentum, shaping how you move through the world long after graduation. A big part of what makes those years unforgettable are the friendships formed along the way—the people who witness your growing pains, celebrate your wins, and laugh with you through the chaos of becoming an adult. For many of us, a shoebox of grainy photographs is enough to bring it all rushing back. For alumni Steve Ball, Kevin Herman, and Wendy Morrison, the reminder is much larger. It rises above the Chico State campus on the water tower: the Wildcat logo designed by their beloved friend Anna Giacomini (Information and Communication Studies, '88), who passed away July 27, 2025, at age 60 following a courageous battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
