On Saturday, March 28, at 6 pm, the third annual Robert Bowman Memorial Recital will take place at St. John's Episcopal Church in Chico. This recital series honors Bowman's legacy by celebrating both music and community service. The event is free and open to the public. It will feature an evening of classical music performed by talented musicians of all ages from across Northern California, including Chico State faculty and students. The program will include works by Beethoven, Chopin, Bach, and more. This memorial recital series was initiated by Lilianne Tao, a tenth-grade student at Chico High School, in January 2024. Inspired by Dr. Bowman's generosity, she has dedicated each year's event to supporting meaningful causes. Proceeds from the first recital benefited the Chico Housing Action Team (CHAT), while the second supported recovery efforts for Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park. This year, donations will support the American Association of University Women Chico Branch, helping provide high-quality STEM education opportunities for women and girls. About Professor Emeritus Robert Bowman Professor Emeritus Robert Bowman taught and coordinated the keyboard program in the Music, Theatre, and Dance Department for 37 years. He passed away on December 9, 2023. Bowman was a profoundly influential musician and educator in the North State, inspiring generations of students throughout his career and creating a lasting impact that continues today.
