J.T. Woodhouse & The Leaves of Grass is an all-acoustic band of various Northern California folk, bluegrass, indie-rock, punk, and musical theater performers led by Jason Cassidy, a former newspaper editor and Chico State English major. The band's debut album, Modern Poetry, features modern and contemporary poems—by Walt Whitman, Maya Angelou, Rainer Maria Rilke, James Joyce, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Antonio Machado and more—set to music in the folk tradition.
Free & open to the public.
The Writer's Voice is California State University, Chico's literary arts reading series. Funded by contributions from the Department of English and the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, the Writer's Voice introduces contemporary writers to citizens of the North Valley.
