"I wanted to go to college to get a good job." Joana Camarena brought focus and drive to her college experience. Since transferring to Chico State, the first-generation student and accounting phenom has been on a roll, adding a second major in finance, stepping into leadership with Beta Alpha Psi, and building connections that turned into real-world opportunities. With support from campus communities like El Centro and EOP, she found her footing and her confidence. Last semester, Camarena secured a highly competitive opportunity with global accounting firm KPMG during the winter break and early spring 2026—and turned this into a job offer that starts in 2027.
