Call for Faculty Interest: Beckman Scholars Program

Announced on: Tuesday, Apr. 14, 2026

Chico State is preparing an institutional application to the highly competitive Beckman Scholars Program (BSP), which supports intensive, mentored undergraduate research in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and related biomedical fields.

If funded, the program will support two undergraduate scholars per year for three years, each completing a 15-month research experience (two summers and one academic year). Faculty mentors play a central role and will be selected as part of the proposal (8–15 mentors total).

We invite faculty who are interested in serving as potential Beckman mentors to complete a brief interest form by 5:00 PM on Thursday, April 16: https://forms.gle/LMDEvzzcsiZkqWwR8

First informational and brainstorming meeting is tentatively planned for early next week (week of April 20) for those interested.

Please feel free to reach out to Jinsong Zhang, Undergraduate Research Coordinator, if you would like to discuss the program or your potential participation. jzhang2@csuchico.edu
