This summer, Chico State's Upward Bound program celebrates 60 years of opening doors to higher education, helping thousands of high school students prepare for college and build successful futures.
Best known for its six-week summer residential program, Upward Bound gives high school students—many from low-income, rural, and first-generation households—the opportunity to live, study, and work on the Chico State campus while experiencing college life firsthand. Beyond academic preparation, students discover what it feels like to belong on a college campus and begin to envision themselves earning a college degree.
At the conclusion of its six-week summer program, Upward Bound hosts a Student Showcase celebrating the depth, innovation, and impact of its students' work.
Members of the campus and community are invited to attend the showcase on Monday, July 13, from 2:30–4 p.m. in Colusa Hall. The annual Student Showcase highlights student achievements and demonstrates how Upward Bound empowers first-generation, low-income, and rural high school students to succeed in college.
You can still make a lasting impact by supporting the UB60 Scholarship Campaign.
Launched in honor of Upward Bound's 60th anniversary, the campaign provides scholarships to graduating Upward Bound seniors as they begin their college journey. Your gift helps remove financial barriers by supporting essential expenses such as tuition, housing, textbooks, and other college costs, giving students the opportunity to focus on their education instead of financial stress.
