Fulbright Scholar Opportunities

Announced on: Thursday, Aug. 06, 2026

Fulbright Canada offers American scholars several professional opportunities to further ground-breaking research and foster lasting connections. Through a wide selection of Fulbright Canada Research Chairs available at world-class universities and research facilities across Canada, you could become part of the worldwide network of Fulbright alumni who have benefited from the unparalleled chance to advance their research goals through adding a global context into your career.

The Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program operates on the principle of reciprocal exchange and provides the opportunity for outstanding American scholars to lecture and/or conduct research in Canada. Award recipients include prominent and promising scholars, as well as experienced professionals. The Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program strengthens bi-national collaborative research and promotes thoughtful public debate on topics that reflect the broad range of contemporary challenges relevant to Canada, the United States, and the relationship between the two countries.

While the competition is officially open field, we are especially keen to support students in the humanities in the areas of communications and culture, in Canadian-American relations, in all areas of contemporary public policy, on topics relating to culture and to the environment, law, indigenous issues, and in pure and applied sciences. Please note that there are special competitions in certain areas and that these may vary over time and under particular circumstances.

The application deadline is September 15, 2026. To apply, and to read over individual guidelines and additional information, please visit the Fulbright Canada website.
