State-Side Mentors Needed: One Hour a Month Can Make a Difference

Announced on: Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026

The Foundations & Futures Mentorship Program has received an unprecedented level of interest from employees seeking mentorship, and we need your help!

We are currently looking for additional State-side Staff and MPP employees who are willing to share their knowledge, experience, and perspective as mentors.

You Don't Have to Be a Senior-Level Manager to Be a Mentor

Mentorship isn't about having all the answers. It's about being willing to listen, share what you've learned, offer perspective, and help someone navigate their professional journey.

Our mentees are looking for support in a variety of areas, including:

  • Leadership and management development
  • Career growth and advancement
  • Communication and public speaking
  • Interview preparation
  • Networking and relationship building
  • Navigating campus and higher education
  • Conflict resolution
  • Skill development and professional growth

Mentors commit to meeting with their mentee for a minimum of one hour per month. During that time, you might help someone work through a professional goal, prepare for their next career opportunity, build a new skill, navigate a workplace challenge, or simply provide the perspective that comes from your own experience.

Why Become a Mentor?

Serving as a mentor is also an opportunity to grow. Mentors can strengthen their coaching and leadership skills, expand their campus network, gain new perspectives, and contribute to a stronger culture of learning and professional development at Chico State.

Most importantly, one hour of your time each month could have a lasting impact on a colleague's professional journey.
