Announced on: Monday, Sept. 14, 2026
Following the retirement of Chief Nicodemus, Chico State launched a nationwide search for the next leader of the University Police Department. Following a comprehensive review of the candidate pool, four finalists have been selected and invited to campus on September 10, 15, 16, and 17.
During their visits, the finalists will meet with representatives from key campus constituencies, including faculty, staff, students, and University leadership. The campus community is also invited to attend an open forum with each finalist, where attendees will have an opportunity to hear from the candidate. Open forums will take place on September 10, 15, 16, and 17 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center, Room 144.
The name and bio for each candidate will be announced one day prior to their campus visit.
We encourage members of the campus community to attend the open forums and participate in this process. Following each forum, attendees will have an opportunity to provide feedback through an online survey.
We appreciate the involvement of our campus community and value your feedback as we work toward selecting Chico State's next Chief of Police.
