Adrienne Scott

Curator

Adrienne has been the curator of the Museum of Anthropology since November 2001, but she has been in Chico since 1993 as a community volunteer and fundraiser for various local groups. Adrienne is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She earned a BA in anthropology from Indiana University at Bloomington, an American Montessori International elementary teaching credential, and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from the School of Education at CSU, Chico.

Adrienne has worked at the Smithsonian Institution and the Museum of Science in Miami, Florida. In her love of museums, Adrienne has done everything from designing exhibits to writing grants and from teaching classes to public relations. Adrienne was named CSU, Chico Staff Employee of the Year in 2008.

Adrienne was selected as a National Endowment of Humanities Scholar for K-12 curricula development at Crow Canyon Archaeology Center in 2013. The museum received the 2016 California State Superintendent's Award for Excellence in Museum Education for the Museum-in-the-Classroom Project developed by Adrienne Scott. Most recently she was selected to be part of 2019 National Educator Cohort for Native American curriculum writing at Heard Museum, Phoenix.

Adrienne has a chapter in the book, Cultural Heritage and the Campus Community: Academic Libraries and Museums in Collaboration due out spring of 2023.
