Dr. Georgia Fox was hired as faculty to the Department of Anthropology in 2001. As former head curator of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, Dr. Fox brings a wealth of practical knowledge and experience in exhibit planning, conservation, and collections management.

As a faculty member in the Department of Anthropology, Dr. Fox is an archaeologist, whose areas of expertise include archaeological and ethnographic conservation, studies in material culture, historical archaeology, and maritime history and archaeology.

Dr. Fox received her PhD from Texas A&M University in 1998. She has conducted extensive fieldwork abroad, in countries such as Greece, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Israel, and currently the eastern Caribbean. She serves as director of the Heritage Resources Conservation Laboratory on the Chico campus.
