Butte County Museum Weekend
The Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology
on CSU campus in Chico will participate in Butte County Museum Weekend – Leap into Museums
on Sat & Sun. Feb 29 & March 1, 2020 10-4 both days
Butte County Museum Weekend is an event created to promote and celebrate history, art, and culture through our extensive network of museums and cultural centers. Museums, galleries, and other cultural destinations across Butte County will be opening their doors for the inaugural event. The Museum of Anthropology will have hands-on activities and crafts for families all weekend. PLUS the added bonus of a partnership with KIXE, our local PBS station.
KIXE on Saturday will provide 2 episodes of the kid’s program Molly from Denali at 11:30 am and 3:00pm. Molly is a world-traveling, animated character who discovers new people and places with each journey. On Sunday, KIXE continues the partnership with a sneak preview of Polar Extremes, a NOVA episode featuring the director of the Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum. Discover the ever-changing climates of Earth’s past through paleontology. Previews show at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm.
All participating locations will offer free admission on Saturday, Feb. 29 and Sunday, Mar.1 from 10am-4pm so that visitors can have full access to the wide range of Butte County’s cultural offerings.
