About
The California State University 2018 research survey found that 50% of Chico State students experience low to very low food security.
Established in 2013 by Kathleen Moroney in her office, the Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry has grown to become one of the most active university food pantries in the United States.
To date, through the generous support of students, faculty, staff, and community donors we have distributed healthy food to more than 40,000 students.
Mission Statement
The mission of Chico State Basic Needs is to improve student success and positively engage the community through the provision of healthy food, emergency grants, financial wellness education, rapid re-housing, public health and wellness programming for students experiencing food insecurity, hunger, disasters, unstable housing, homelessness and poverty.
