The Basic Needs has a diaper application available. Please apply for 50 diapers per child per month.

To support Chico State student's basic needs and academic progress towards graduation, the Basic Needs Emergency Grant program assists eligible students experiencing unexpected or extenuating financial challenge.

Making Money Moves

Do you want to learn to do your taxes as a student? Learn the basics of investing? Learn how to pay off student loans and how to make your financial aid stretch out to cover a whole semester? This series is for YOU! We are providing this workshop series both in person and on zoom. A free meal will be provided to those able to make it in person. 

Financial Wellness Clinic

The clinic offers financial planning information to students, faculty and staff in the areas of budgeting, credit scores, student loan repayment, retirement planning, and many other areas of personal finance. If you are struggling with financial stress and need someone to talk to, you are welcome to sit down with a resident financial planner or our para-planners to discuss options and formulate a financial plan. To schedule an appointment, please visit Financial Wellness.

CalFresh is a program that helps people be able to purchase food at their local framer's market, grocery stores, or online via an EBT card.

• Adventure Day Camp is a youth camp at Chico State for kids 6-12 year old. The camp emphasis on learning, having fun, building teamwork, being involve, and having new experience.

• Climbing Cats Camp is a youth camp at Chico State for kids ages 6-12. They teach kids about the basics of rock climbing, bouldering, belaying, knots and trying all level of routes,

• Level Up Camp is a camp provided to the older kids, ages 12 -14 years old. This half-day camp gives them the opportunity to work on their leadership skills, participate in group activities and much more.

• Wildcat Discovery Camp is a youth camp at Chico State for kids 7–16 years old and is all about discovering and exploring. They offer an exciting opportunity to tailor your child’s camp experience around FUN learning and their camp schedule around your schedule.

The AS Child Development Lab (ASCDL) is an early education and teaching and learning laboratory serving student families at Chico State. The ASCDL serves children ages 2 months to 5 years.

The Wildcat Family Friendly Study Space (WFFSS) is located on the fourth floor of the Meriam Library adjacent to the Juvenile Collection. The WFFSS is arranged for students, staff, and faculty who need to use library resources while caring for a younger family member. Meriam Library is happy to support students who are parenting, or family caregivers who desire a family-friendly space located centrally in the heart of campus. The WFFSS is equipped with child sized furniture, table, chairs, and an interactive oversized rug.

California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, (CalWORKs) is a public assistance program that provides cash aid and services to eligible families that have a child(ren) in the home.

The Califronia Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) helps low- to moderate-income workers and families get a tax break. You may be eligible for a California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) up to $3,644 for tax year 2024 as a working family or individual earning up to $30,950 per year.

The Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC) provides up to $1,154 per eligible tax return for tax year 2024. YCTC may provide you with cash back or reduce any tax you owe. California families qualify with earned income of $31,950 or less. You also must have a qualifying child under 6 years old at the end of the tax year and qualify for CalEITC – with one exception.

Valley Oak Children's Services assist low-income parents in paying for child care costs as parents work, attend school, or enter a training program.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program that provides no-cost services to Women, Infants, and Children. The Butte County Public Health WIC Program has been providing WIC services to families who live in and around Butte County since 1976. WIC offers a variety of services to help support families make healthy nutrition and lifestyle choices.

WIC services include:

• Monthly food benefits for purchasing healthy foods
• Nutrition education and information for a child’s stage of growth
• Breastfeeding support
• Special checks to be used at the farmers’ markets in the summer
• Referrals to other community and healthcare resources.
