Accessibility Seating
Wheelchair accessible seating is provided for all shows and can be reserved through online booking, in-person visits, or phone orders. This seating ensures that patrons can enjoy the performance while remaining in the comfort of their own wheelchairs. Furthermore, we offer several transfer-accessible aisle seats for guests who use wheelchairs and prefer to sit in a standard theater seat.

ASL Interpretation
Requests for American Sign Language interpretation are welcome for any performance hosted. To ensure proper arrangements are made, please make these requests at least one month prior to the event. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate last-minute requests.
Laxson Auditorium Assisted Listening DevicesAssisted listening devices for Laxson Auditorium events can be borrowed from the House Manager Window. To check out a device, please ensure you have your identification handy to provide as collateral. These assisted listening devices are compatible with most corded headphones, offering audio clarity for your convenience during Laxson Auditorium performances.Service AnimalsService animals are welcomed at all campus venues. Service animals are those that fall under the categories defined in titles II and III of the ADA and are individually trained to perform tasks directly related to a person's disability. It's important to note that animals whose primary role is to provide comfort or emotional support no longer meet the criteria for service animals as per the ADA. For additional information, please visit www.ada.gov. - Bag Policy
No excessively large bags, purses, or backpacks will be permitted inside the venues. Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items and diaper bags.
All other bags must be 12" x 6" x 12" or smaller.
- Box Office Hours (corner of W. 3rd and Chestnut Streets)The University Box Office is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Box Office Item Fee
Effective July 1, 2024, the box office will replace the $8 per order convenience charge with a $2 per ticket box office fee. This fee is included in the ticket price and helps cover the annual costs of our ticketing software, hardware, and credit card processing.
- Cameras/recording devicesCasual photography with non-professional, non-flash cell phones is allowed unless otherwise indicated. Please note that video or audio recording is not allowed..
- Cancelled Events
In case of a performance cancellation, we will attempt to inform patrons ahead of time by email.
Refunds will be initiated by the University Box Office within 72 hours of the cancellation. If you used a credit or debit card for your ticket purchase, a refund will be automatically credited back to the original card. Regrettably, we are unable to issue refunds to a different card. If your card has been closed since the purchase, kindly contact your credit card company to understand their refund procedure.
For payments made by check, cash, account credit, or any split-tender method, refunds will be processed by check from the University. Please note that this process may take up to five weeks.
- Child Ticketing PolicyChildren aged 3 and under may sit on a parent's lap during a performance. Children aged 4 and older will need their own ticket and seat for the event. We recommend bringing appropriate ear protection for children attending loud performances. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the University Box Office at your convenience.
- Concessions at Laxson events
Concessions are available at mostLaxson Auditorium events, offering beer, wine, soda, water, and light snacks (cookies and nuts) for purchase before the show and at some intermissions.
Be sure to grab a reusable cup so you can enjoy your drink inside the theater! - Discounts
Group Rate
The University Box Office offers discounted rates for groups of 10 or more. Please note that group discounts cannot be combined with other ticket promotions and may not apply to all events. To book group tickets for a specific event, contact the University Box Office at 530-898-6333.
Chico State Student Discount
Chico State Student Discounts are offered to currently enrolled students for most events. Students have the option to buy their tickets in person, online, or over the phone. It is important for students to have their physical Wildcat Student ID on hand and present it alongside their ticket when arriving at the event. If a Wildcat ID is not presented along with the ticket, the box office will adjust the student ticket to the full-priced rate.

Chico Performances Member Donors
Chico Performances Member Donors are entitled to discounts corresponding to their contribution level. To find out more about becoming a Chico Performances Member Donor, please visit https://www.chicoperformances.com/membership-and-subscription.php.
- Does Laxson Auditorium have an Elevator?Please be aware that Laxson Auditorium does not have an elevator. If you have purchased balcony seats and are unable to climb the stairs, please inform one of our ushers, and we will be happy to assist you in finding an accessible seat.
- Do I need to print my tickets if I ordered online?No. We can simply scan your ticket directly from your phone. Please ensure that your ticket is displayed on your phone with maximum brightness, and zoom in on the QR code located at the top of the ticket.
- Exchange Policy
To exchange tickets for another performance within the season, please contact the University Box Office at least 24 hours before the performance during business hours. A $4 per ticket exchange fee applies. Please note that exchanges are not available on Saturdays, Sundays, or at the event venue.

- How can I purchase tickets?

The University Box Office is situated inside Sierra Hall at California State University, Chico, on the corner of West Third Street and Chestnut Street in Chico, CA.
- How will I receive my tickets?
Purchasing tickets online:
Once you place your order online, you’ll receive an acknowledgment of its success, and a confirmation email will be sent to you. This email, coming from ubpcustomersupport@csuchico.edu, should arrive within five minutes. It will contain a link to add your digital tickets to your phone or print them out. If you don’t see the email in your inbox, please check your spam folder. If you still can’t locate it, contact the University Box Office by phone or visit the box office window at the event.
Purchasing tickets at the Box Office:
You can choose to receive either physical tickets or digital tickets via email.
Purchasing tickets by phone:
You can choose to receive your tickets either by mail or email. If you select mail, please allow up to eight business days for delivery. For events happening in less than eight business days, tickets will be sent via email.
- Laxson Auditorium Seat Numbering
Seating in Laxson Auditorium follows a distinctive numbering system: seats in the right orchestra are even-numbered, seats in the left orchestra are odd-numbered, and the center orchestra seats are numbered consecutively from 100 to 124.
- Late Seating Policy
In the interest of everyone's safety, late arrivals will be seated at the discretion of both the House Manager and the performers. Guests who arrive late may be seated in alternative seats until it is safe to move to their assigned seats.
- Lost and Found Policy
If you have lost items, please contact the University Box Office at 530-898-6333 for assistance.
High-profile items, such as wallets, purses, cell phones, keys, credit cards/debit cards, jewelry, or Chico State IDs, found at a performance, will be transferred to the University Police Department after the event. This will enable you to retrieve your misplaced items outside of our regular business hours.
- Lost my ticket, what should I do?
Contact the University Box Office or drop by the theatre before the event, and we'll gladly issue you a new ticket.
The University Box Office will provide replacements for physical tickets exclusively to the original purchaser. Kindly bring a form of identification to verify your status as the purchaser. For online orders, we will reissue e-tickets exclusively to the email linked to the purchase.
If you arrive at an event and have misplaced your tickets, simply visit the ticket window or speak to the ticket sellers, and they will assist you in reissuing your ticket.

- Parking
To locate campus parking areas, please consult the University Campus Map-Parking(opens in new window). For accessible parking locations, select “Accessibility” to turn on the map feature, or download an accessible parking areas map (PDF) (PDF) to view accessible parking locations.
Parking permits are required Monday to Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Guests have the option to pay for parking by downloading the Passport Parking App(opens in new window) from the iPhone App Store or Android Google Play. - Refunds Policy
All ticket sales are final. Refunds are only available if a performance is canceled and will be issued only to the original purchaser.
- Seating
Event seating options may vary depending on the performance, presenter, or location. Here are the common seating options provided by the University Box Office.
General Admission Seating: Attendees are free to choose any available seat within open sections staffed by ushers.
Reserved Seating: Guests with reserved seats will be guided to the designated locations specified on their tickets. Those desiring seat changes should visit the University Box Office to facilitate the exchange.
Tiered Seating Overview: The Tiered Seating House is structured into three tiers—A, B, and C.
- Tier A: Tier A seats offer a prime view of the stage, these seats are highly desirable.
- Tier B: Tier B seats provide a good balance of sound quality and stage visibility.
- Tier C: Tier C are considered good seats; however, it's important to note that they are furthest seats from the stage.

- Venue Information
Laxson Auditorium:The ticket window opens one hour before the performance starts. The Laxson Lobby and Concessions stands open forty-five minutes before the performances, offering beer, wine, soda, water, and cookies. Seating begins thirty minutes prior to the start time.
Arts Recital Hall: The ticket window opens one hour before the performance. Seating starts thirty minutes before the performance begins.
Harlen Adams Theatre: The box office opens one hour before the performance. Seating begins thirty minutes prior to the start time.
Wismer Theatre: Ticket sales open sixty minutes before the performance. Seating starts thirty minutes prior to the performance.
Rowland Taylor Recital Hall: Ticket sales open sixty minutes before the performance. Seating begins thirty minutes prior to the start time.
Acker Gymnasium, Nettleton Stadium, and Soccer Stadium: Ticket sales open sixty minutes before the start of the first game.
- What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, checks, chip-enabled credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and tap-to-pay contactless transactions.
- Why is the venue so hot/cold?Controlling the temperature in a large building with many people can be challenging, as the presence of a crowd tends to raise the air temperature. If you find the space cool when you first enter, expect it to warm up quickly as the theater fills. If the temperature becomes uncomfortable, whether too warm or too cool, please let an usher know so they can inform the staff.
