Liza Nagel

BA, Child Development, Class of 1980

Dr. Liza Nagel received her BA in child development at CSU, Chico in 1980, and went on to complete her MA in family relations and a doctorate in higher education at Washington State University, Pullman. Nagel most recently worked as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Professional Programs at Washington State University Tri-Cities, joining WSU Tri-Cities in 2008 as the academic director for College of Education programs and a professor in the department of Teaching and Learning. Previously, Nagel was associate dean of the graduate school at the University of New Mexico. Her scholarly research focused on stress management and the study of substance abuse. She has conducted research on stress in teachers, stress in student teaching, mediators, causes of stress, and conflict in the workplace. Nagel has been recognized for her contributions to higher education, receiving a leadership award and teacher of the year award from the University of New Mexico. She is also a recipient of the National Exemplary Drug Prevention Program award from the U.S. Department of Education. Nagel previously served on the board of directors for the Children’s Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia and on the Delta High School Advisory Board. Nagel is retired and lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
