Interview with Gabriel

What inspired you to join the BSS FUTURE Scholars Program?

  • "For the opportunity to help conduct research on a topic that I found interesting with a professor I enjoyed working with."

What has been your most memorable experience in the program so far?

  • "The guest speakers that we've had come during our meetings to share valuable information about campus resources that us students can utilize. I also enjoyed getting to share my research with others in the program and hear what they were doing."

How has the program impacted your academic and personal growth?

  • "Being in the program has given me firsthand experience in the research process which has prepared me for a career in the field. It has also provided me with experience that I can put on both job resumes and CVs, as well as giving me practice in things that I have learned in my classes such as how to conduct a literature review."

What are your future goals and aspirations?

  • "In the future I hope to be a part of the Psychology Honors program and then go on to get my master's degree in Psychological Science so that I can conduct research as a career. Later on down the line I would also be interested in going into teaching at the college level."

Any advice you would like to share with fellow students?

  • "Recognize the achievements that they have made thus far and use that as motivation to keep working hard and pushing forward even if it seems tough. I would also say to establish a support group with people around you such as advisors, family, friends, and professors so that you can set yourself up for success in the future."
