Chico State Budget Process
2026-2027 Budget Development
During the 2023-24 academic year, under President Perez's leadership, Chico State initiated a new budgeting process focused on education, transparency, and alignment with university policy (EM 05-017).
Budget planning for the 2026-27 year will begin in 2025-26 through a series of collaborative sessions with the University Budget Committee (UBC). In the Spring, UBC will make a 2026-27 campus budget recommendation to the President.
Below are documents related to the 2026-27 budget development process.

UBC's recommendation to the campus President from the April 2026 meeting:
- If the State gives us the full allocation as stated in the January Governor’s 26/27 Budget Proposal, we recommend staying on the path of fiscal sustainability using base budget increases to address structural deficits and backfill reserves.
- If the State gives us a smaller allocation than in the January Governor’s 26/27 Budget Proposal, we recommend a three-year reduction plan reflecting a 20%-20%-20% of the deficit over the next three years.
