Attention Zoom Users: "Consent to Be Recorded"

Announced on: Monday, Mar. 30, 2020

Campus Zoom User Community,

Chancellor's Office Security, with support of the CSU Campus Chief Information Officers, is recommending that the following change in Zoom Recording be made immediately.

"It is strongly recommend that all campuses ensure that they have the 'Consent to be Recorded' feature globally set to Locked On. If 'Consent to Record' is on, when a meeting is recorded all participants will get a notification that the meeting is being recorded. The notification asks participants to select either to continue or to leave the meeting. It is possible to not click anything, but the notification remains visible until they make a choice".

What will this mean to you?

After this feature is turned on at Chico State Monday, March 30, participants entering a Zoom session that is being recorded will see a pop up that says 'Consent to Record." The notification asks participants to select either to continue or to leave the meeting. It is possible to not click anything, but the notification remains visible until they make a choice.

The Chico State Learning Management Advisory committee, the Academic Technology Officer, and Chico State Zoom Administrator support this recommendation and will request this change be made immediately.
