Civic Engagement is excited to offer the "Invitation to Service Learning Pedagogy" faculty workshop! The workshop is open to all faculty from all disciplinary backgrounds and affiliations (including lecturers and tenured/tenure-track faculty). The workshop will be hosted in person on campus on Tuesday, May 23 from 10am - 1:30pm. Please complete the application for this workshop by clicking here no later than Friday, May 5. Join Civic Engagement for an interactive workshop to learn about civically-engaged and community-based teaching and learning! Service learning is an established high-impact practice that enables students to apply their knowledge of a given subject to applicable areas in the community, and thus begin to see how they can be effective agents of change in their communities. The purpose of the workshop is to introduce service learning approaches to teaching, learn about service-learning projects happening on campus, and identify strategies for incorporating service learning into your own discipline and classes. Lunch will be provided! The workshop will be interactive and have three required deliverables, all to be completed during the workshop: Compensation is available for up to 15 faculty who attend the full workshop session and complete the deliverables associated with the workshop. Faculty will receive $500 in professional development funds.
