Book in Common Event: "Deconstructing Monuments to Reconstruct History"

A panel discussion with Nathaniel Heggins-Bryant (English), Robert Jiles (Multicultural and Gender Studies), and Gloria Lopez (History). Moderated by Jason Nice (History).

Focusing on monuments to Confederate soldiers (nationwide), Junípero Serra (Los Angeles and San Francisco), and Mayor Frank Bogert (Palm Springs), this panel will explore the contexts that led to the creation of the monuments, the reasons why the monuments have been removed, and where we go from here.
