USA Study Abroad, part of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and its Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program are pleased to invite all interested U.S. undergraduate and graduate students and U.S. higher education faculty and administrators to attend the "Inside U.S. Foreign Policy Seminar: Global Public Health" on November 7, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Eastern / 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Pacific. This 2-hour seminar will explore the subject of global public health and how the State Department advances U.S. foreign policy interests through its work on strengthening global health security to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious diseases in the United States and around the world. The State Department strives to protect the United States and the world from health threats, by leading U.S. diplomatic engagements, leveraging and coordinating U.S. foreign assistance, and promoting international cooperation at the national, regional, and multilateral levels. Attendees will hear from technical experts and U.S. diplomats working with the Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy, the Bureau of African Affairs, and the Global Health Protection Division at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the U.S. Mission to Tanzania. The seminar will shed light on the inner-workings of American diplomacy connecting the State Department's mission to the lives of the American people. Attendees will also have the chance to learn more about State Department internships, fellowships, and career opportunities. Click here to register for this seminar! For those interested but unable to attend live, the seminar will be recorded and made available on the Gilman's Inside U.S. Foreign Policy page.
