If you: We'd like to hear from you! Why: To gather information that can be used to help teens who experience wildfires in the future, we are holding focus groups to learn more from individuals who were teenagers at the time of the Camp Fire. These focus groups are part of a pilot study called, "Teenagers' Experiences After a Wildfire." What: A focus group will have up to 6 individuals who were teens at the time of the Camp Fire, and a small research group (i.e., a faculty member and undergraduate Chico State students) who will ask questions about your experience after the fire, how it impacted you, and what supports were helpful or needed. Risks & Voluntary Nature of Study: You will be asked questions about your experiences during and after the Camp Fire, which may bring up psychological discomfort, feelings of distress, or may cause participants to re-live a traumatic experience. If you feel uncomfortable at any time, you may skip questions, leave the focus group, or remove yourself from the study as a participant. Who Can Participate: To participate, you must currently be 18- to 23-years-old and have lived in a community directly impacted by the Camp Fire or a community within a 50-mile radius of the Camp Fire in 2018. When: One 60- to 90-minute focus group in March or April 2024. Where: Location at Chico State to be determined. Participants Will Receive: •A $10 gift card to Starbucks or Dutch Bros. •Snacks will be served at the focus group. Questions?
