New Course in Interreligious Conflict and Cooperation

Announced on: Thursday, May 09, 2024

In these turbulent times where we see conflicts raging in lands sacred to many religions, the Department of Comparative Religion and Humanities is proud to announce that we will be offering a new course: RELS 368 "Interreligious Conflict and Cooperation" in Fall 2024. The course will be Online and Asynchronous for maximum flexibility and there are no prerequisites. It is open to all students who wish to learn more about religiously based conflicts as well as the various strategies for reducing tensions and coming to a better and deeper understanding of each other. The course catalog description reads:

"This course examines interreligious conflict and cooperation in a variety of historical and contemporary contexts. It explores belief systems regarding religious 'others' and the social, political, and cultural circumstances that shape interactions of religious groups. Emphasis is placed on developing skills for effective participation in a religiously diverse world."

We hope that interested students will consider enrolling in this course for an immersive and respectful exploration of the causes, background and potential solutions to religious conflict in the Middle East and around the globe.
