National First-Generation Week

El Centro Resource Center & First-Generation Staff & Faculty Association Presents:National First-Generation Week, November 4-6th, and the 8th, 2024 (All events will be in El Centro Resource Center, MLIB 161, unless mentioned otherwise). Monday, November 4th, 2024: Panel with Graduate Students, in El Centro, 2-4 PM

  • The panel will consist of four grad students. The conversations will focus on imposter syndrome and transitioning from undergraduate Studies to graduate studies. If you are a student that is considering graduate school, come learn more about navigating graduate school!

Election Day: Tuesday, November 5th, 2024 : Art Therapy Workshop & Vision of the Future, in El Centro 12-2 PM

  • Election Day can cause many emotions, so we will be holding an art therapy workshop and creating vision boards with the first-generation student/staff community. This will be facilitated by Ermelindo Salgado Hernandez and Kiara Castanon, Master of Social Work Candidates

Wednesday, November 6th, 2024: Third Annual First-Generation Social, 4:30-6:30 PM in Selvester's 100

  • We invite you to attend the Third Annual First-Generation Social! This will be an amazing opportunity to connect with first-generation students, staff, and faculty! There will be free food, games, and community! Come Join us!

Friday, November 8th, 2024:National First-Generation Day! First-generation healing circle, El Centro, 12-1:30 PM Come join us on National First-Generation Day! Be a part of our first-generation circle where we'll discuss building a sense of community and provide a healing space for all participants. Attendees will also receive a first-generation goodie bag with a complimentary first-gen shirt. You must be present in order to receive your shirt. Note: All events will need to be RSVP'd to determine the expected number of students/staff/faculty attending.
