As the colder months approach, it's important to take extra care of your health. Cold and flu season is in full swing, but you can stay ahead of the game by being proactive. Here are some key ways to protect yourself and your loved ones this season: Get Your Flu Shot - Flu vaccines are your best defense! The WellCat Health Center offers free flu shots to all students. Drop by one of our Free Flu Shot Clinics during the semester! 10/29 11am - 2:30pm in the Meriam Library Breezeway & 11/5 9am - 1:30pm in EJ Courtyard! Wash Your Hands Frequently - Simple but effective—wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Keep hand sanitizer with you for moments when soap isn't available. Stay Hydrated & Eat Nutritious Meals - Your immune system needs proper fuel! Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to stay strong. Prioritize Sleep - Your body needs rest to fight off infections. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to keep your immune system in top shape. Avoid Close Contact When You're Feeling Sick - If you're feeling unwell, avoid close contact with others to prevent spreading illness. Consider wearing a mask if you need to be around others. Use WellCat Telehealth Services - Feeling under the weather but can't make it to campus? Download your TimelyCare App where you have 24/7 access to health care via Telehealth, you can access care from the comfort of your home. Practice Stress-Relief Techniques - Stress can weaken your immune system, so make sure to engage in activities that help you relax. Whether it's yoga, meditation, or spending time in nature, taking care of your mental health supports your physical health too! Stay Home When You're Sick - If you're experiencing symptoms of cold or flu, take care of yourself and others by staying home until you feel better.
