Hopper Visiting Artist lecture by visiting professor Darrin Martin

Please join us in the Department of Art & Art History for the Fall 2024 Hopper Visiting Artist's lecture by guest Darrin Martin on Thursday November 14th, at 5:30 pm in Ayres Hall, room 106. Martin is a Professor in the Maria Manetti Shrem Art Studio Program and Co-Chair of the Department of Art and Art History at University of California, Davis. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Martin creates video, sculpture, and print-based installations that engage the synesthetic qualities of perception. Influenced by his own experiences with hearing loss and research into queer ecologies and sound studies his projects consider notions of accessibility often using tactility, sonic analogies, and audio descriptions.

Martin's works have screened at the Museum of Modern Art (NY); Pacific Film Archive (CA); Impakt Festival (Netherlands); European Media Art Festival (Germany), among others. His artworks and installations have exhibited at venues including Grand Central Art Center (CA), Moscow State Vadim Sidur Museum (Russia), McIntosh Gallery (Canada), Krannert Art Museum (IL) and, most recently, at the Ann Arbor Film Festival (MI) and the Saint Joseph's Art Society in collaboration with Telematic Media Arts (CA). Martin also occasionally curates video screenings and exhibitions at venues including the Ann Arbor Film Festival (MI) and Electronic Arts Intermix (NY).
