Cross-Cultural Leadership Center

Mai (MK) Her

APIDA Resource Center Program Coordinator

This is MK (Mai) and she’s the Program Coordinator at the APIDA Resource Center. She’s a first-generation student and grew up locally here in Chico. MK graduated from Chico State with a BS in Health Science with the option in Health Education and later got her MA in Social Science. She served on the Asian & Pacific Islander Council (APIC) as the Events Coordinator for over two years. Currently, she is the advisor for the Hmong Student Association (HSA) student organization.

During her undergraduate and graduate years, she worked for a youth group on campus called Leaders for a Lifetime (L4L), where high school and college students help their community through service, cultural education, and performance activism. It was through this youth program that she found her passion to work with students in higher education.

MK is excited to work alongside the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center (CCLC), Black Resource Center, and El Centro Resource Center. She looks forward to the collaboration between these centers and campus partners to provide academic support, retention, and cultural programming at the APIDA Resource Center.
