Alma Karina Miranda-Rodriguez
Alma is Chico local, attending CSU Chico where she is currently working on getting two bachelor's degrees in computer engineering and English Creative writing as well as a minor in computer science and the LEAP certificate. Alma is committed to promoting equality and representation for all gender identities and sexual orientations. When they are not working or studying, they like exploring new places around chico, cooking, honing her mixed martial art skills, working out, spending time with friends, reading and watching films. Her hope is to improve technology and inspire young queer women of color to pursue a career in a STEM or humanities field. Once graduating from undergrad, she hopes to their academics in a Graduate school.
When Alma started Chico, she found it hard to connect with the student body because she did not live on campus. It was not until a classmate was able to show them the star center where Alma was able to step out of her shell and connect with more students. She has then joined MESA, LTC and WOE. Finding connections with students of a different walks of life has inspired her to continue to make space for students who are not repented on campus.
