CHC Staff Speak at CSU Basic Needs Conference

Four CHC staff members presented at the two-day Basic Needs Initiative conference for the California State University, held at Sacramento State in March: Associate Director Stephanie Bianco, CFO Director Jenny Breed, Program Analyst Amie Riesen, and Program Manager Emily Foxworthy. One CHC session presented the CHC internship model as a “best practice” to support basic student needs. Another offered hands-on recipes for low-cost, nutritious cooking with CalFresh and pantry items. The conference featured speakers and breakout sessions to help all CSU campuses successfully develop programs to provide for basic student needs.

CHC Receives Chancellor’s Grant

The CSU, Chico Chancellor’s Office has awarded the CHC a $75,000 basic needs grant. The grant recognizes the CHC’s successful ongoing work to expand CalFresh Outreach services to eligible students throughout the California State University system.

CHC Welcomes Two New Staffers

Elisa Chavez coordinates the data analysis and reporting components for the CHC’s CalFresh Outreach contract. She also regularly travels to other college campuses to provide trainings for other CalFresh Outreach programs. Ma Lai Vue is the new program manager for the CHC’s North State Benefit Enrollment Center. She also works as a member of the CalFresh Outreach team.
