Discover Chico State and How We Help Students Thrive

Join us for a welcoming session created just for parents, families, and supporters. You’ll learn how Chico State is a great choice of value, the many ways we support students inside and outside the classroom, community resources, and how we are preparing students for their career. We’ll also cover next steps for students who plan to attend, including what to expect from New Student Orientation. Our team is here to answer your questions and support you every step of the way.

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Mixer

Time: 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
Location: Bell Memorial Union, Room 314

EOP applicants are invited to hear from current staff and students about the wonderful benefits of being a part of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) family. If you can’t make the presentation, no problem—make sure to stop by the EOP table to say “Hi” and learn about important next steps.

University Housing

Time: 11:30–11:55 a.m.

By choosing to live in University Housing (UH), students are choosing success. UH provides an inclusive and interactive living environment, where students will unlock their true potential outside the classroom. This session will assist in answering your questions on how UH can help you stay connected and continue to grow.

First-Year Area 2 Placement & Advising

Time: 11:30–11:55 a.m.
Location: Bell Memorial Union, Room 203

All first-year students must complete General Education Area 2 (Mathematical Concepts & Quantitative Reasoning) within their first year. Learn about CSU placement methods and discover the recommended Area 2 course for your major. STEM students: You will likely need the ALEKS PPL assessment for calculus readiness and enrollment. Get a head start! Visit the Math Department website if you can't attend for info and orientation/fall enrollment prep.

The Honors Program offers special opportunities for motivated, academically successful undergraduate students, including specially designed courses in general education, and independent research in selected majors. Come to a session to find out more about the program.

How to Get a Job on Campus

Many students meet their college expenses by working part time during their academic career. The Chico State Career Center offers a job database system where students can search for both on- and off-campus jobs. Chico State offersover 1,200 on campus student positions annually in a variety of entry-level and semi-skilled jobs. Join this presentation to learn about different opportunities, the Handshake job database system, and tips for the application process.
