Faculty Awards

Every year, the Office of Civic Engagement recognizes faculty for their community-engaged research and/or teaching. 

The Civically Engaged Scholar Award

Recognizes faculty members who have demonstrated a significant history of community-engaged partnerships, high levels of student engagement, research or teaching about significant public issues, with public-serving results. 

The Early Career Community Engagement Award

Recognizes up to 3 faculty within the first 6 years of their academic career who are pursuing community-engaged teaching or research. Preference is given to those who are collaborating on racial or social justice work and/or working with community partners in the Chico State service region.  

All awardees receive $500 in professional development funds. 

Recent awardees include Cindy Daley (AGRI), Nathanial Heggins Bryant (ENGL), Marie Patterson (CMGT), Amy Magnus (POLS) 

Nominations are simple. Send an email to the chair of the awards committee, Amy Magnus, at ammagnuse@csuchico.edu(opens in new window). In that email provide information and specific examples of why you think this faculty member should receive this award. Deadline for nominations is January 30, 2023.
