Program Highlights
- CSU, Chico’s chapter of National Student Speech Language Hearing Association won the 2017 Outstanding Student Organization in the Student Organization and Leadership Education (SOLE) Award.
- Andrea Avina, Senior CMSD, won both the 2017 College of Communication and Education Outstanding Student Leader Award and University-wide Chico State Outstanding Student Leader Award. See Ms. Avina’s story at http://www.csuchico.edu/inside/2017-05-15/article-avina.shtml
- Andrew Kent won the 2017 University Outstanding CAVE Volunteer award. The Long's Award for Outstanding CAVE Volunteer is given to a student who has demonstrated outstanding service as a volunteer in the CAVE program.
- Jose Cervantes, undergraduate, and Karen Vang, Graduate, were selected for the 2015 Minority Student Leadership Program through the American Speech Language Hearing Association. As an MSLP participant, they took part in a set of leadership-focused educational programs and activities at the 2015 ASHA Convention in Denver, CO. There were 153 applicants from students in programs throughout the US. Only 40 were selected and two from CSU, Chico’s CMSD program.
- 85% of graduating CMSD seniors who applied for graduate school in Communication Sciences and Disorders, which was approximately 50% of our total graduating seniors, were accepted at Chico State or elsewhere.
