College of Communication and Education (CME)

An annual scholarship, from our generous alumni and donors, help students afford and provide for their "Chico Experience". 

*Endowments, gifts that provide support in perpetuity, are the cornerstone of the College of Communication and Education’s success. Donors who establish an endowed fund leave a legacy of support so that those who follow can pursue their academic dreams.

**Scholarships that have already been endowed but are striving to reach the next level of an endowment by reaching $25,000 or more. 

Academic and Performance Recruitment Scholarship

These recruitment scholarships provide awards of $1,000 to $2000 to promising first-year freshman and transfer students.

The awards have three main criteria:

1) A commitment by the student to declare a major within the
College of Communication and Education;

2) A demonstration that the award is critical to a
student’s decision to attend CSU, Chico; and/or;

3) Student shows proof of outstanding academic

The 2021-2022 application was due March 1, 2021.

College of Communication and Education Outstanding Student Leader Award

The CME Outstanding Student Leader Award is to recognize an outstanding student for their proven leadership or leadership potential, academic excellence, and the potential to excel in their chosen field.

This award is funded by alumnus, Lance Lew ('79), who was selected as the College of Communication and Education Distinguished Alumni in 2013. Mr. Lew is now on the University Foundation Board of Governors and for the last decade, he has contributed annually to this fund in memory of his father, Norman Lew.

Michael J. Edridge Memorial Scholarship*

 This scholarship was established in memory of Michael J. Edridge, who at the time was a graduating senior in communications before his passing. This scholarship is for students who demonstrate a passion for their major within the College of Communication and Education.

Dr. Stephen W. and Leatha King Scholarship*

Dr. King served for 17 years as the dean of the College of Communication and Education at Chico State. Both here and his former position at San Diego State University, Dean King valued, supported and exemplified the highest standards of scholarship, leadership and service.
