Students Who Have Children

We know how overwhelming it can feel to have the added stress of managing your online courses, job, and family all at the same time in the same place.

Remember to step back, take a deep breath, and follow some of these tips below on making the most of your time as a student and a "teacher."

Be Where You Are
Don't worry about what you aren't doing and stay focused on the task at hand. Don't worry about work or family when you're studying and don't let work interfere with your quality time with your family.
Set a Schedule for the Week

Plan segments of time for school, family, exercise, and any other tasks that you may need to get done. Experiment with the best times that work for you and your family.

Remember that You Are Only Human
Nothing will get done well if you are emotionally or physically drained. Plan exercise and creative activities into your week to help keep you and your family energized.
Don't Worry if You Don't Get Straight A's
Your focus should be on the learning, not getting 100% on every exam or ranking #1 in your class.
Have Some Fun
Enjoy your time with your family. Watch a movie, read non-academic books together, or play a game.
Know When You Need Help
If you're feeling overwhelmed, take a step back and reach out to family, friends, and instructors that can offer you support and guidance.
